A fascinating trek to Tsum Valley of Happiness with adventure of life time as the walk leads from warm sub-tropic towards alpine cooler zone, following glacial Buri-Gandaki River for few days.
Starting Tsum Valley of Happiness trekking with an overland drive to Soti Khola past the town of Gorkha and Arughat, then following the river upstream leading through traditional mountain villages of Jagat, Dyang, Chumling, Chokhangparo and towards Nele at 3,361m, visit of Milereppa cave (famous 11th C Tibetan Buddhist saint and tantric guru) finally reaching at Mu Gompa 3,700 m on the highest area of this adventure.
Visit the monastery with close views of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu mountain range, after an interesting around Tsum valley, in Tibetan language known as Beyul Kyimolung means Valley of Happiness.
After exciting and memorable time return back on the same wonderful route back to Soti-Khola towards Arughat town with an overland drive to Kathmandu.
On arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and representative for a short drive to respective hotels in Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide will brief regarding Tsum Valley trekking, hotels, lodge and necessary information required while you are with us in Nepal with welcome dinner.
Morning depart from the hotel for interesting sightseeing tour Kathmandu valley steeped with culture, historical monuments of temples, monasteries and stupas listed as World Heritage Sites, afternoon free preparation for Tsum Valley trek.
Morning drive to Arughat and further to Soti Khola to start this wonderful adventure to Manaslu and Larkya-la pass, drive lead to warmer country passing many farm villages and towns and farm fields and following the Trisuli river for few hours than the drive leads across the river to reach Arughat through the town of Dhading besi, on reaching Arughat situated in the famous Gorkha district by the Buri-Gandaki river.
From here transfer to another vehicle taking a rough drive on dirt road to Soti Khola passing several villages and farm areas, with views of Mt. Manaslu driving ups and downs till Soti Khola is reached for overnight stop. This is a small farm village by the stream Soti.
From this nice busy village, walking continues on the good trail following the main river Buri Gandaki and passing several streams and farm hamlets, and then crossing a bridge over Nuali khola overlooking beautiful cascading waterfalls, the walk finally leads on the neat stone steps with another bridge crossing to Machha-Khola for overnight stop and this village named as Machha- Khola meaning Fish streams.
After Macha-Khola morning walk following Buri-Gandaki River upstream, to reach at Khorla Beshi a small farm village from here on the pleasant winding path reaching Tatopani “Hot Spring” here one can have an opportunity for a hot bathe, time permitting, after a nice rest here walk carry’s on passing the villages of Dovan and Yaruphant, and still following Buri Gandaki River and finally reaching at Jagat village after crossing a short suspension bridge, this is quite large farm villages with shops and stores.
From Jagat, journey continues to higher area following Buri Gandkai River, then encountering several small farm villages of Sidibas Bazaar, which is a pretty neat village, after a nice rest here trekking with a short climb and downhill and crossing a suspension bridge to reach at Nagjet, then a climb up to nice village at Philim, this is quite a large village with scattered farm houses, from Philim trekking onwards through farm terraces of golden fields of wheat’s and barley, then a climb to a rocky ridge top and into bamboo forest area then to our overnight halt at Dyang village.
Morning walk on leaving the Manaslu route and off from the Buri Gandkai River till on the way back, trekking continues towards Tsum the mystical valley entering narrow gorge and then descending to the ridge of Tsum Valley, journey carry’s on with an hour uphill into rhododendron and pine tree lines and then reaching a neat small village at Lokpa, after a short break then the walk leads to cross a bridge over Lungwa Khola and then on the good track towards Chumling village for overnight stop, this is the first day at Tsum Valley area.
From here onwards one can feel fresh mountain air as the altitude gains slowly around Tsum area offering grand views of snow capped mountains and amazing country landscape which is similar to Tibetan terrain, with the wonderful views morning trekking leading to a gradual downhill to cross a suspension bridge and then heading on the opposite side of Smatiking Khola, overlooking fantastic views of Ganesh Himal (Yangra) at 7,422 m then the walk slowly approach our overnight stop at Chokhangparo village.
After a nice stop at Chokangparo nearing closer to upper Tsum area around Nile ( Ne-lay) morning walk leads uphill on the open valley in the dry arid country with only few tree lines of juniper and some pine and bushes of rhododendron and junipers. Continue walk on the uphill trail in the clear blue sky with views of distant mountains Ganesh and Manaslu Himal range, after a good walk reaching at Nile after visiting the Cave of 11th centaury Saint Milarepa who was a poet, singer and a tantric guru his folktales and songs are still remembered by Tibetans, Nomads and farmers.
Morning starting the walk to the highest point of this wonderful trekking at Mu Gomba and the final destination of this adventure, walk continues on the uphill path in this high arid and barren terrain with views of snow capped peaks towards North, East and Western area, after a good walk reaching at Mu Gomba for overnight stop.
A free day at Mu Gomba for local excursion visiting the villages and interact with locals and children, as this place has seen only a few numbers of westerners, visit the old Mu Gomba which houses antique scrolls, statue and relics this is one of the most famed and important monastery of Tsum and Manaslu region.
After a most memorable and enjoyable time in the high areas of Tsum and at Mu Gomba return trek leads towards another interesting monastery at Rachen Gomba, the walk is on the gradual path, with few short climbs and downhill and enjoying the surrounding views of snow capped mountain range and passing few hamlets and cattle herders shades reaching at Rachen Gomba for overnight stop, with time to visit the old important monastery of Rachen.
Today the last day around Tsum valley area, morning walk leads to a long descend back to Chumling village most of the walk is on the same route passing several farm areas and farm houses and back to woodlands and rich vegetation, after a good downhill walk of 5-6 hours reaching back at Chumling village for overnight stop.
Morning begins with a long steep descend through a gorge and with a climb to Ekalai Bhatti or Dyang and towards Buri Gandaki river and through the river gorge, after a steep climb to the top ridge, then heading to a long descend passing many farm houses and villages and farm terraces fields and back to thick cool forest and walking further down to Philim village for overnight stop.
From Philim, walking back on the same route most of the way to Arughat morning walk on the long descend on nice stone steps through the village of Philim and then entering the forest area following the Buri-Gandaki river most of the way to reach at hot spring at Tatopani for overnight stop, with time for a splash and to refresh in the hot spring.
After nice refreshing time at Tatopani retrace the journey back to Soti-Khola passing the many farm villages and farm lands and through Machh-Khola area following the raging Buri Gandaki to Soti-Khola for overnight stop.
Morning drive back to Kathmandu the drive leads past Buri Gandaki and reaching the same route at Dhadingbesi and towards Trisuli River, after Trisuli River on the main highway back to Kathmandu after 6 hours of good drive reaching Kathmandu, transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free for walk around the Kathmandu market.
