Everest Base Camp Trekking

Welcome to world highest Mt. Everest Base Camp also known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Sherpa / Tibetan calls as Chomolungma meaning great mother in both languages.

Since the conquest of Mt. Everest in May 29th 1953 by late Tenzing Sherpa and Edmund Hillary, Everest base camp at present a milestone for many trekkers and adventurer including mountaineers to stand beneath the towering South Face of world highest peak with notorious tumbling Khumbu Ice-Falls and glaciers.

Adventure to Everest Base Camp starting from former old kingdom at Kathmandu, a scenic flight to Lukla then heading towards high Khumbu valley through traditional Sherpa villages and farm lands, passing famous Namche Bazaar and picturesque Thyangboche Monastery with daily views of wonderful snowcapped peaks and into lovely forest of rhododendron, oaks, pines and fir.

Walk finally leads to Everest base camp with alluring views of mountains, glacier and icefalls and then a climb to Kalapathar the highest point of the trek with Mt. Everest at closest.

After an enjoyable and experience of a life time adventure, concluding this amazing Everest base camp at Lukla for sweeping scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

On arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and representative for a short drive to respective hotels in Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide will brief regarding Everest base camp trekking, hotels, lodge and necessary information required while you are with us in Nepal with welcome dinner.

Morning transfer to domestic airport for a short flight to Lukla with panorama of mountains during 30 mins airborne, in Lukla starting the trek with moderate walk and short downhill passing several traditional Sherpa villages and farm lands to reach at Phakding for overnight stop near Dudh Kosi river.

After a pleasant stop at Phakding today heading to famous Namche Bazaar the main town of Sherpa of Khumbu region, walk leads on gradual undulating path crossing the same river few times and into cool shade of pine and rhododendron woodland.
On reaching entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo and towards the last village of Jorsalle and continue walk on river banks, and then a long climb leading at Namche Bazaar for overnight stops.

At Namche for necessary acclimatization with rest day, before heading higher elevation to Everest base camp. Namche a colorful moderate town with shops, stores, banks and ATM with Cyber Café around, suggested short walk to the Park museum with great information of the area including grand vista of Mt. Everest and majestic Amadablam peak.

For energetic people can take a hike to Everest View hotel, Khumjung and Khunde village located on the glacial valley beneath holy Khumbi-la peak (patron of Khumbu Sherpa’s)

From Namche a pleasant walk for first half till lunch enjoying views of Everest, Kwangde, Tharmasarku, Amadablam, after crossing Imjatse river to Phunge-Tenga a small place with few small shops and lodges, after lunch 2 hours of climb through beautiful forest to overnight stop at Thyangboche monastery area.

A great scenic spot with views of surrounding high peaks, here with time to visit the monastery and monks, priest on prayer.

 

Catching the morning view of Everest and other peaks, walk starts on downhill to a bridge over Imjatse River, from here on leaving the forested area with gradual climb to Pangboche village at 3,900 meters, the last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond.

A slow climb leads to Somara for lunch and continue walk with last climb to Dingboche village for overnight stop, Dingboche located at Imjatse valley with panorama of mountains including North Face of Amadablam and Island Peak.

Another rest day for proper acclimatization, a short hike up at Nagarjun hills for best views of Mt. Makalu and adjoining peaks.

After Dingboche morning begins with steep climb for an hour commanding excellent vista, then on gentle trail most of the way to Thugla for lunch, where Khumbu glacier ends into a raging river, after a nice stop a steep uphill climb for an hour to Thulga pass with memorials of climbers who have died in climbing and mountaineering expeditions to Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here a nice pleasant walk brings to Lobuche for overnight stop.

Today walk leads to our main destination to Everest Base Camp, walk leads with gentle up for few hours then with short climb in between to Gorakshep walking on glacier and moraine, on reaching Gorakshep beneath towering Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar.

Form here walk continues towards east to Everest Base Camp overlooking Khumbu glacier and the notorious Kuhmbu Ice Fall, after reaching at base camp with enjoyable walk, retrace the journey back to Goarkshep for overnight halt.

Morning hike to the top of Kalapathar at 5,545 meters the highest point of this adventure with tremendous views of surrounding snowcapped peaks including Mt. Everest at close distance standing beneath towering lofty peak of Pumori.

After a great moment return to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk to Thugla, from here on the new route towards Pheriche valley, descend to the valley can be windy in the afternoon after a nice pleasant walk reaching at Pheriche for overnight stop.

Return journey is much easier losing altitude every hour, walking downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then walk to a bridge, from here a steep 2 hours climb to Thyangboche and back into tree lines to Thyangboche for overnight stop.

After a great time in the high mountains and Khumbu valley, walk descend to Imjatse river then a steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual path with short ups and downs to Namche Bazaar, a nice pleasant break here and back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to overnight stop at Monjo village near Sagarmatha National Park gate.

Morning walk on pleasant trail most of the way to reach at Phakding, from here retrace the journey to Lukla with a last climb for an hour, on reaching Lukla celebrate the last night with fellow trekkers and staff including porters.

From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with spectacular views of mountains, on reaching Kathmandu domestic airport, our staff transfers you back to hotel around Thamel area with rest of the day free at leisure.

We reserve this day in Kathmandu as contingency or spare day, in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather pattern can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or one can book for short sightseeing tour around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.

After an enjoyable and fabulous time in Nepal with Everest Base Camp trekking, as per your international flight time our staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to next port of call.
