Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lake

Everest base camp &Gokyo Lake a wonderful adventure covering best areas within high Khumbu valley of Everest region, this trek leads you to simmering Gokyo Lake known as Dudh Pokhara also.

A picturesque spot in the backdrop of world 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu and adjoining peaks and with a climb to GokyoRi hill top for panorama of 4 world highest peaks with rare North Face of Everest including Lhotse, Makalu and towering Cho-Oyu.

This fascinating Everest base camp &Gokyo Lake trekkingstarts with a scenic flight to Lukla and then walking through beautiful woodland of rhododendron, pines, oaks and fir trees through traditional villages of Phakding&Monjo to reach famous Namche Bazaar, here with acclimatization days and short excursion.

Our adventure leads through traditional Sherpa villages passing settlements of Dole-Machherma on leaving tree lines behind for arid and mountainous landscapes to reach at picturesque Gokyo Lake, here marvel the views of surrounding peaks and heading towards Everest base camp crossing a high Cho-la pass.

At Everest base camp standing beneath towering Mt. Everest with tumbling Khumbu Ice-Falls and glaciers, from here next adventure leads to scenic viewpoint at Kalapathar 5,545 m high with awesome panorama of mountains with Everest at mere distance.

After a fabulous time in the high mountains return back to Lukla visiting famous Thyangboche monastery with amazing views of Ama-Dablam peak.

After an experience of a life time adventure,concluding Everest base camp &Gokyo Lake trekking at Lukla forsweeping scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

On arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and representative for a short drive to respective hotels in Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide brief you with information regarding Everest Base Camp &Gokyo Lake trekking, hotels, lodge and necessary information required while you are with us in Nepal including welcome dinner in typical Nepali restaurants.

Morning depart for interesting guided tour of Kathmandu city with world heritage sites. Kathmandu city and the valley steeped in history and culture, after an impressive time, back to hotel with afternoon free preparation for Everest Base Camp &Gokyo Lake trekking.

Early morning transfer to domestic airport for short flight to Lukla, views of mountains during 30 mins airborne, in Lukla starting the trek with moderate walk on downhill passing interesting Sherpa villages and farm lands to reach at Phakding for overnight stop near Dudh Kosi River.

After a pleasant stop at Phakding, walk to famous Namche Bazaar a main town of Khumbu Sherpa’s, leading on gradual undulating path crossing same river few times and into cool shade of pine and rhododendron forest.

After few hours walks reaching at Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjovillage, from here towards last village of Jorsallebefore Namche, continue walk on river valleyand then leading to a long climb to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.

At Namche for necessary acclimatization with rest day, before heading higher elevation toEverest base camp. Namche a moderate size town with shops, stores, banks and Cyber Café, suggested short walk to the Park museum with information of the area including grand views of Mt. Everest and majestic Ama-Dablam peak.

Other options hike to Everest View hotel, Khumjung and Khunde village located on glacial valley beneath holy Khumbi-la peak (patron God of Khumbu Sherpa’s)

From Namche to Gokyo, morning walk on scenic moderate trail toShanasa, around here chances of seeing some wildlife like colorful Danphe pheasant (Impeyan Pheasant) National bird of Nepal and the elusive musk deer, and sometime even herd of Himalayan Thar (mountain goat). From here our route diverts towards north with slow climb to Mongvillage at 3,973 m high with superb views.

After Mongwalk leads downhill to Dudh Kosi at PhortseTenkha, with short stop continue to Dole, as the walk leads to a climb through rhododendron and pine forest passing small settlements ofTongba villageand Gyele to reach Dole for overnight stop, offering super view of Khumbila and Tawache peak.

After Dole, walking on moderate level trail for an hour to LhabarmaKharka and to Luza; then skirting around the ridge line with first glimpse of Machherma, a short descend brings atMachhermavillage, for lunch and overnight stop.
Afternoon free and leisure or take a short hike for best views of Mt. Cho Oyo at 8,210m with adjoiningpeaks flankinggreat Ngozumba Glacier.

Morning walk leads to Gokyo Lake on the trail to Pangkaand then climb a rocky path into ablation valley reaching first and second lakes, as the walk continues reaching at third Gokyolakeor Dudh Pokhari, the lodges and houses situated near the lake.
After lunch take a short walk for acclimatization around lake shore with views of world’s 06th highest Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang peak.

Morning climb to GokyoRiat 5,357m, offering best panorama of world highest peaks
Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and towards further east view of world 5th highest Mt. Makalu with Gokyo Lake and Ngozumba Glacier.

After a great vista descend back to Gokyo for lunch and then walk for few hours to Thaknak on the base of Chugyuma or Tsho-la pass beneathNgozumba glacier.

Early morning climb towards Cho-la pass (Thso) over rocky moraine, in snow condition this will be arduoustask finding the main path, walk leads over rubble of moraine to reachthe top of the pass well hidden by Cholatse, Nirekha and Taboche peaks.

After a tough and scenic climb descend to a small valley at Dzong-la for overnight stop.

After overnight at Dzongla, morning walk follows uphill for an hour and then on nice path to Lobuche for overnight stop, from here onwards on the main trekking trail joining Namche to Everest base camp.

Today walk leads to ourmaingoal and destination to Everest Base Camp with gentle up for few hours then a short climb in between to Gorakshep, walking on glacier and moraine to reach at Gorakshep beneathtowering Mt. Pumori and rocky Kalapathar.
After a break here continue towards Everest Base Camp along Khumbu glacier with views of Kuhmbu Ice Fall, onreachingEverest base camp enjoy the views at its best enclosed with world highest peaks and glaciers, in expeditions season to Everest this spot will be flooded with camps of different nations.

A few hours of good hike leads back to Goarkshep for overnight halt after a marvelous time at base camp.

Morning 2 hrssteep climb to Kalapathar hill top at 5,545 m, highest point of this adventureoffering incredible views of snowcapped peakswith Mt. Everest at mere distance, from here descend to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue trek to Thugla and towards Pheriche for overnight stop.

Return journey much easier on losing altitude with downhill walk and short ups to reach Pangboche village from here walk to the bridge and back into forested area with a climb to Thyangboche for overnight stop. A beautiful spot surrounded with mountains and tree lines, eye catching views of Mt. Everest and towering Mt. Ama-Dablam, Here impressive visit the monastery and observe the young monks and prieston prayer ceremony.

After a great time in the high mountains and Khumbu valley, walk descend to Imjatse River then a steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual path with short ups and downs to Namche Bazaar and back to Dudh Kosi River forovernight at Monjovillage,close to Sagarmatha National Park.

Morning a pleasant walk most of the wayreaching at Phakding,and then retrace the journeyback to Luklawith a last climb for an hour, at Lukla celebrate last night party dinner with fellow trekkers and staff including porters.

From Lukla an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with spectacular views of mountains, on reaching Kathmandu domestic airport transfer back to respective hotels around Thamel area with rest of the afternoon free at leisure.

A necessaryspare or reserve day in Kathmandu as contingencyin case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might happen as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable.

If all goes well as per the itinerary days, just relax and enjoy a free day or book for short sightseeing tour around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.

After an enjoyable andfabulous time in Nepal with Everest Base Camp&Gokyo Lake trekking, as per your international flight time our staff transfers you to airport for final departure homeward bound or to next respective countries.
