Annapurna & Ghorepani Pun Hill Trek

This fascinating destination to Annapurna & Ghorepani Pun Hill trek starting from Pokhara, picturesque and scenic spot in the backdrop of high Annapurna Himalaya where it reflects on pristine lakes.

The trek combines spectacular mountain scenery with cultural diversity and walking through traditional Gurung and Magar / Pun villages as the walk leads through enchanting woodland of rhododendron, pines, hemlock and fir trees.

Walking from warm lowland to cool alpine terrain at Ghorepani on old Trans Himalayan Caravan Trade Route of Nepal / Tibet, where the trade still continues till present at present beyond Upper Mustang.

An impressive morning hike to Pun Hill at 3,210 m the highest spot of this trip with fabulous views of snowcapped mountains of world 3 highest mountain range from Dhaulagiri, Annapurna to Manaslu with majestic peak of Machapuchare “Fish Tail” including stunning sunrise.

Our return journey, descending through lush terraced Modi River valley and finally concluding the adventure at Pokhara, a popular destination with serene Phewa Lake, in the backdrop of towering Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu mountain range including Machapuchare (Fish-Tail).

Itinerary

On arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and representative for a short drive to respective hotels in Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide will brief regarding Annapurna & Ghorepani trekking, hotels, lodge and necessary information required while you are with us in Nepal with welcome dinner.

Morning depart from the hotel for interesting sightseeing tour Kathmandu valley steeped with culture, historical monuments of temples, monasteries and stupas listed as World Heritage Sites, afternoon free preparation for the Annapurna Ghorepani trek.

Early breakfasts, travel by air or Tourist Coach to Pokhara on scenic highway. This is an interesting drive through the foothills of the Himalaya. The road has been greatly improved in recent years, on arrival at Pokhara check into the Hotel by the lake Phewa for the overnight.

A short 2 hours drive after breakfast takes you up the newly built Chinese highway to Nayapul (new bridge) where we begin the (approx 3-4 hours) trek, in the beginning the trail passes through the busy areas where you will encounter all types of people from merchants, traders, local, trekkers and mule and donkey trains, as you come to Bhirethati village the trail splits into many ways, but we follow the main trail to the ancient Trans-Himalayan trade route, after crossing the newly built suspension bridge, after the bridge, entrance of the ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) here all the trekkers have to sign in, from here our trek follows the main trade route through many farm villages and waterfalls till Tirkhedhunga is reached for the overnight Camp. Approx. 4 hours walk.

From here the track winds up to a steep climb for 1 1/2 hrs on the paved stone steps unto Ulleri village, after Ulleri the trail winds up gradually passing through the cool rain forest for few hours with few ups and down, as the trek comes nearer to Ghorepani, you will be gaining altitude as you can feel the cool breeze and in the change of vegetation, as you walk in the midst of the rhododendron woods till Ghorepani village is reached for the overnight camp.

An early morning hour hike to the top of Pun-Hill for the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas from Dhaulagiri-Annapurna to Mt.Manaslu range. After the busy photo session return back to camp at Ghorepani for breakfast. After Ghorepani the trail follows to the upper ridge to Deurali through rhododendron forest, from here the path narrows down hill through the temperate rain forest, stepper path in some places as you come to Bhaise Kharka a place in the middle of the forest, after a short break or a lunch, the trek is on the gradual trail for an hour, after coming down to a small stream in the middle of the rhododendron forest, an hour uphill walk to Tadapani. Tadapani is in the middle of the forest of Rhododendron, Magnolia and Oaks. From this place a grand view of Annapurna South and Machhapuchare (fishtail) can be seen at a close distance. Tadapani with 8-10 lodges a place made by the local Gurung people to serve and cater the needs of trekker’s on-route.

Today a short walk to Ghandruk village through beautiful forest with views of mountains; a pleasant walk leads to Ghandruk village for lunch and overnight stop.

In Ghandruk explore around Gurung village, one of the largest villages around Annapurna region where the men folk of Ghandruk village have long tradition of supplying some of the finest soldiers in the Gorkha Regiment in both British and Indian armies.

After a nice time at Ghandruk village, morning walk leads downhill for an hour to Modi River, on crossing over a bridge with short climb reaching at Landruk village, from here on a pleasant winding trail through farm terraced and villages with an uphill walk for an hour to Deurali ridge at 2,150 m.

After Deurali on the downhill walk with views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu including Fish Tail peak all the way to Pothana village for last overnight in the high hills of Annapurna.

Morning catching super views of mountains as the walk leads to a short up through cool forest to Thulo Kharka also known as Australian Camp.

A wonderful place surrounded with alpine forest and views of Annapurna mountains from here an hour descend to Kande village, on the Baglung-Pokhara highway, from here an hour drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high hills.

Morning after breakfast drive back to Kathmandu on an interesting and exciting highway through many farms, villages and towns and then drive leads to uphill to reach Kathmandu valley.

On reaching hotel, afternoon free for individual activities and shopping with farewell dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with culture / folk dance program to entertain with authentic Nepali meals.
