Annapurna Base Camp Trek

This fascinating short trek a quick way to visit Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary beneath world 10th highest Mt. Annapurna surrounded with adjoining peaks of Annapurna range including North Face of Mt. Machapuchare “Fish Tail”.

Annapurna area was first explored by British Adventurer Col. James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts in the year 1956 and exposed to the world as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. The Sanctuary has been christened as “Annapurna Sanctuary” ever since.

This trek combines spectacular mountain scenery with cultural diversity and walking through rural farms villages.

Our walk leads towards deep gorge in between Huinchuli and Machapuchare peaks and through dense rhododendron and bamboo forest around Modi River gorge.

Finally this great walk leads in the heart of our destination at Annapurna base camp within Sanctuary guarded with immense high walls of mountain fortress of Annapurna I (8,091m) Annapurna South (7,219m), Gangapurna (7,455m) and Annapurna III (7,555m).

At Base Camp relax and enjoy the views before heading back on the same trail for few days and then taking an alternative route back to Pokhara through nice village of Landruk and Tolka to reach Baglung / Pokhara highway at Kande for a short drive to scenic Pokhara where this awesome short and scenic adventure concludes.


On arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and representative for a short drive to respective hotels in Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide will brief regarding Everest base camp trekking, hotels, lodge and necessary information required while you are with us in Nepal with welcome dinner.

Morning depart from the hotel for interesting sightseeing tour Kathmandu valley steeped with culture, historical monuments of temples, monasteries and stupas listed as World Heritage Sites, afternoon free preparation for the Annapurna base camp trek and run.

Early breakfasts, travel by air or Tourist Coach to Pokhara on scenic highway. This is an interesting drive through the foothills of the Himalaya. The road has been greatly improved in recent years, on arrival at Pokhara check into the Hotel by the lake Phewa for the overnight.

A short 2 hours drive after breakfast takes you up the newly built Chinese highway to Nayapul (new bridge) begin 4 hours trek, as the walk follows Modi River to Bhirethati village where trail splits to several routes of Annapurna trek, to reach our destination at Annapurna base camp following Modi River upstream for some time with climb on stone step all the way to Gandruk for overnight stop.

From Ghandruk village an uphill climb through forest of oaks and rhododendron with view of Annapurna, this part of the walk is pleasant with downhill to Kimrong khola is reached for lunch. The trail from here leads uphill for 2 hours, once at the top of the ridge walk is fairly easy all the way to Chomrong for overnight stop, Chomrong the last permanent village and door to Annapurna base camp and Sanctuary.

From Chomrong walk passes terraced farm fields with descent to a river, after the bridge it’s uphill most of the way for 2 hours to a ridge top near Khuldi-ghar , from here descend to Bamboo, a small settlement within bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forest with 5-6 lodges. After a brief stop here hour walk uphill to Dovan for overnight stop.

From here onwards air gets cooler and fresher entering picturesque Annapurna Base Camp and the Sanctuary, walk leads on gradual path up to Himalaya Hotel near Hinko Cave, beneath Hiun-Chuli peak.

From here walk on glacier and moraine over avalanche area, after crossing a small bridge near Deurali with last lodge before Machapuchare Base Camp and then climb following Modi river upstream, continue walk with steep climb to Machapuchare Base Camp for overnight stop. MBA with nice lodges located beneath Mt. Machapuchare North Face where Annapurna Sanctuary starts.

Morning with views of Annapurna, a short walk to Annapurna base camp at
4, 095 m high, walk leads on grassy uphill slopes reaching higher elevation near Annapurna Base Camp with stunning views of Annapurna peaks at the closest which encircles the sanctuary with grand views of Annapurna I.

After a pleasant walk reaching at Annapurna Base Camp a unique spot encircled with snowcapped peaks, afternoon after lunch descend to Deurali for overnight stop.

From Deurali return trek to Pokhara on the same trail to Chomrong with short downhill to a small log bridge and climb up to Hinko Cave then it is almost down hill on the rough trail with small creeks and streams with log bridges to cross or on stepping stones.

Walking past Himalaya Hotel, Dovan and Bamboo, and then up to Sinuwa danda ridge and downhill to Chomrong River. From the bridge climb to Chomrong for overnight stop.

After a nice overnight stop at Chomrong walk downhill to Landruk through New Bridge, a short distance walk to Modi River, then cross the bridge to reach at Landruk.

From here our route diverts on winding trail passing through number of scattered farm villages to Tolka a nice spread out village for overnight stop.

Morning catching super views of mountains as the walk leads to a short up through cool forest to Thulo Kharka also known as Australian Camp.

A wonderful place surrounded with alpine forest and views of Annapurna mountains from here an hour descend to Kande village, on the Baglung-Pokhara highway, from here an hour drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high hills.

Morning after breakfast drive back to Kathmandu on an interesting and exciting highway through many farms, villages and towns and then drive leads to uphill to reach Kathmandu valley.

On reaching hotel, afternoon free for individual activities and shopping with farewell dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with culture / folk dance program to entertain with authentic Nepali meals.
